## Overview

Payments with Eway for Paid Memberships Pro adds Eway as a payment gateway, so Australian and New Zealand membership
sites can take card payments for one-time and recurring levels. Card details are entered on Eway-hosted fields or
pages and never reach your server; the site keeps only an Eway token, which the plugin charges when a renewal falls
due. Pick the checkout that suits the site:

- **Secure Fields:** the card fields are Eway iframes on your own checkout page, with optional 3D Secure 2.
- **Responsive Shared Page:** members are sent to an Eway-hosted payment page and returned to your site when they are
  done, with built-in 3D Secure and your own theme, heading and logo.

The plugin is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Eway or Paid Memberships Pro.

## Features

- **One-time and recurring levels:** renewals are charged against the saved card through Paid Memberships Pro's
  hourly task and Action Scheduler.
- **Declined renewal retries:** three retries, at least an hour apart. If all three fail, the subscription is cancelled
  and the member is notified through the usual Paid Memberships Pro emails. Updating the card retries straight away.
- **Card updates:** members replace their card from the Membership Billing page.
- **Refunds:** full refunds from the Paid Memberships Pro order screen.
- **Sandbox and live credentials:** kept separately, with a **Test connection** button on the settings page.
- **Safe debug log:** optional, and never records card data, passwords or API keys.
- **Health checks:** an admin notice when renewals are overdue, and abandoned Shared Page orders are reconciled
  automatically.

## Install

```bash
wp plugin install awesoft-pmpro-eway --activate
```

Install and activate Paid Memberships Pro 3.6 or newer first. Then open Memberships › Settings › Payments, select
**Eway** and save. Enter the API key and password for your environment (Secure Fields also needs the public key that
starts with `epk-`), save again and run the connection test. The credentials are in MYeWAY under My Account › API
Key; refunds need the "Rapid API Refunds" permission. An Eway sandbox account lets you test without real charges.
Requires WordPress 6.5 and PHP 8.1 or newer; tested up to WordPress 7.1.

## Good to know

- **Secure Fields or Shared Page:** Secure Fields keeps members on your site. The Shared Page needs no public key and
  handles 3D Secure on Eway's side, so it is simpler to set up.
- Eway does not run subscriptions itself, so renewals depend on WP-Cron or Action Scheduler running on the site.
- Custom trial periods are not supported. A recurring level with nothing due today saves the card and charges it from
  the first renewal.
- The Paid Memberships Pro currency is sent to Eway unchanged, so it must be one your Eway account accepts.
- Cancelling a membership stops future charges in Paid Memberships Pro; Eway is not notified.
- **What's stored:** no card details. The site keeps only a token for the saved card, plus the card brand, last four
  digits and expiry. API credentials are kept in the WordPress options table.
- **Data sent to Eway:** at checkout, renewal, card update and refund, the plugin sends the member's name, billing
  address, email, phone and IP address, plus the order amount, currency and order code.
- Uninstalling removes the plugin's settings only; orders and subscriptions stay.
